What are members are saying

Another great thing about WAS is the range of most excellent lectures. These have,
over the years, been a great way of expanding my own small knowledge of life, the
universe and everything.
Sreenidhi Prabagaran
Even though I was the youngest there and probably the most inexperienced in astronomy, I’ve always felt welcome. Everyone is so willing to answer my questions and explain anything I didn’t know or understand.
Georgie Bucks
I have not only learned a lot by being a member of the WAS but have also tremendously enjoyed the experience. The group is very friendly and I can’t recommend joining highly enough – becoming a member of the WAS...
Sandy Giles
I am now Secretary of the Society and as keen as ever on Astronomy, always encouraging members, new or old, to become proficient. The Society celebrated its 40th Anniversary last year, is well set for the future and remains a friendly and welcoming group for anyone with an interest in Astronomy.
Richard and Carol Jenkinson
We joined the society about 10 years ago after buying a new telescope. I have had a passion for Astronomy since being a teenager and the Apollo missions furthered my interest. It was good to be able to share our hobby with like minded people. The society is a very friendly group of people who are happy to help new and old members.
Sarah Whittaker
I have been a member of WAS for 16 or 17 years and have also served on the committee. I have made some wonderful friends over the years, some of whom will be friends for life, and I continue to remain a member of the society, attending the lectures when I can.
Jonnie
The amount I've learned in the few months I've been a member is staggering, because everyone here is so generous with their time, knowledge, and the extensive WAS library of every book on astronomy you could hope to get your hands on. Plus, they're all lovely to have a chat with!
