About the Event
The Perseid meteor shower will reach its maximum rate of activity on Friday, 12th August 2022. Some shooting stars associated with the shower (caused by the Earth slamming into the debris left behind by comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle) are expected to be visible each night from 17th July to 24th August. This year unfortunately the peak falls around the time of the full Moon, so light conditions will not be optimal and only the brightest meteors will be visible. However, weather permitting of course, there are plenty of other objects in the sky to see and if the worst comes to the worst, at least we can hold a BBQ!
