Introduction to PixInsight

We’ve moved on from using Adobe Photoshop for Image processing – PixInsight is definitely the programme of choice for astrophotographers. And whilst it true that it had a reputation for being hard to learn, updates over the last couple of years have made the whole operation much simpler – and way better than anything Photoshop can do. This will very much be a hands-on session. But if all you want to do is to come along, watch and listen, you can pair up with someone else and look over their shoulder.

This first session will provide a general introduction to the software and to the concept of Workflow. We shall have some Seestar sub frames to work with and will take you through stacking of those sub-frames, and the subsequent steps required to produce a nice image. The difference between what the Seestar produces by itself (already quite impressive) and what proper image processing can achieve will become very apparent.
