Testimonial - Nadim Ahmed

Updated: May 8, 2022

I have been a member of the Wycombe Astronomical Society (WAS) since late 2020.

I joined during the height of the pandemic which meant that any in person observing was not possible at the time and all meetings conducted via Zoom.

My interactions with the WAS operational team and the members has always been amazing. As a complete novice to the world of Astronomy I have found WAS an informative, supportive and engaging group who are happy to share their years of knowledge and experience.

The WAS online lectures have been insightful and informative, delivered by enthusiastic professionals who have a passion for the world of astronomy.

The WAS website and society scope loan scheme have been a great way for me to explore the world of Astronomy without any financial outlay, which I feel is a great way to encourage newbies to explore the skies. WAS also have close connections with other astronomy groups which allows them to share upcoming events from a broad range of sources and this allows the learner to have a wider exposure to the world of Astronomy.

The wider social interaction with the WAS members has most definitely increased my own knowledge and understanding of numerous subjects, not just astronomy related. The WAS members are always keen to engage in conversation and share their thoughts and views on a wide variety of topics.

WAS have access to a fantastic facility and scope at Woodrow High House which adds additional value to the practical in person astronomy meetings.

WAS have a great mix of members and I would highly recommend joining up regardless of your Astronomy level or experience. Nadim Ahmed
