I had been curious about astronomy since college and bought my first telescope in 2003.
I joined Wycombe Astro to get help with using the scope and very soon found it was very helpful and I enjoyed all aspects of both the practical side and the lectures.
I soon became very involved and became secretary a role I held for around 15 years.
During that time I helped set up practical evenings originally for new people to Astronomy and developed a range of outreach events at schools, Woodrow and more recently evening Astronomical events at Waddesdon Manor.
Wycombe Astronomical Society has been so helpful to me both for learning about the subject and for making new friends. Jackie Harris
