Paul Hill to become Vice-President of Wycombe Astronomical Society

Updated: Aug 29, 2021

Wycombe Astronomical Society is delighted to announce that Paul Hill has accepted the invitation to become its Vice-President. We have known Paul for many years and his lectures and support have always been welcomed.

Paul is a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS), co-presenter and writer of the popular Awesome Astronomy podcast, has appeared on BBC News and Radio to discuss a range of astronomy and space issues as well as being interviewed on The BBC’s The Sky At Night. He is also part of the team that runs the bi-annual, family friendly AstroCamp in the Brecon Beacons.

Paul is also a Space Champion for the European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) working with the European Space Agency and UK Space Agency on space related education programmes in schools.

In response to our invitation Paul has written “I am very honoured that the Society has asked me to be its Vice-President and I am delighted to accept the invitation.”

Jon Jewitt, Memberships Secretary of the Society, said “Naturally, we are very pleased and excited that Paul is to become our Vice-President. Paul’s role will be complementary to the role fulfilled by our recently appointed President, Professor Bob Lambourne, though with a more outward looking perspective. Accordingly, we look forward to his assistance in organising and participating in outreach events, external communications activities and educational projects of the Society. We hope too he will be able to assist us in devising observing and training projects which members of the Society can participate in. And of course, we shall look forward to his highly entertaining and informative lectures as we have in previous years.”
