In 2025 we were lucky with a clear night, but we had quite a bright Moon to contend with which meant only the brightest meteors could be spotted. For the 2026 Perseid Meteor shower on 12th August we shall have a New Moon – but much more importantly we shall have the bonus of a 90% Partial Eclipse of the Sun!! Details to follow later (for example we shall likely need to start a bit earlier than usual) but if it’s clear like last year we should not only get a good view of the eclipse but a good view of the Perseids too.
